A photograph shared by Stat Crux Report on September 6 shows a man identified in the post as British commentator Milo Yiannopoulos seated indoors, wearing sunglasses, a loose green shirt and a crocheted green skullcap. The post said he had “seemingly converted to Islam.” The image by itself does not establish a religious conversion.
No direct public statement from Yiannopoulos confirming a conversion, and no corroborating report from an established news outlet, was located during preparation of this article. A skullcap can carry religious or cultural associations, but clothing alone is not a reliable basis for determining someone’s faith. The conversion claim therefore remains unconfirmed.
The image drew attention in part because of Yiannopoulos’s public history. Reuters described him on August 28 as a far-right commentator known for anti-Islamic rhetoric, while reporting that U.S. immigration authorities had detained him. The Guardian reported on September 1 that he had been deported to the United Kingdom and had said he was ashamed of his prior support for President Donald Trump.
Those recent changes in Yiannopoulos’s public political posture do not verify a change in religion. Confirmation would require a direct, verifiable statement from Yiannopoulos or an authorized representative. This article will be updated if such evidence becomes available.
