Michael P. Desronvil, the lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial, publicly defended his position after the case ended in a mistrial. In a statement first reported by NewsNation and quoted by People and Fox News on September 18, Desronvil said he had no doubts and believed the physical evidence, witnesses and prosecution case showed that Clancy knew what she was doing.

The jury was split 11-1. Desronvil favored conviction rather than joining the other jurors in a verdict of not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility. His account disputes statements from other jurors who said he appeared to acknowledge reasonable doubt during deliberations. The competing accounts describe the jury-room dispute; the mistrial produced no verdict resolving it.

Clancy admitted killing her three children in January 2023 but pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility. Her defense argued that postpartum psychosis left her unable to understand or control her actions, while prosecutors argued that she planned the killings and understood what she was doing. The charges remain pending after the mistrial.

Desronvil’s attorney described him as a devout Catholic, and reporting describes his family as Haitian. A September 18 Stat Crux Report post called him a “Catholic Haitian immigrant,” but accessible reports do not consistently establish that he is himself an immigrant. This update therefore does not present his immigration status as a verified fact.
